Create the Adobe Photoshop Icon in 5 steps

Now, I am going to teach you how to create the Photoshop icon that Adobe has been using since the arrival of the Creative Suite(CS) version of the Software. You must have also seen this type of effect in various websites. This is a very popular effect and gives a standing look. It can be used to create icons, logos and even favicons, just like i have done for this blog. So, enough talk, lets get to work…

Step 1
Create a new file with a size of 500 x 500 px with a 72 ppi and fill it with pale blue (#0b7128)

Step2
Go to Filter>Render>Lighting Effects and apply change the direction of the light source as given in the picture below

Step3
Write “Ps” using a familiar font. I used Aller font. You can either use the same or Myriad Pro. Let the text be Bold and try to change the font spacing according to your desire.

Step4
Double Click on the Text layer and apply these layer styles:

Inner Shadow

Drop Shadow

Gradient Overlay

The final outcome is after applying the above layer styles is :

Step5
You can also add a punch line and add a floral brush and add the same layer styles to them as that of the text, but with slightly lesser values (since the size is comparitively smaller).
